Description
We leave the fountain of Aguilar del Alfambra to the right of the fountain, along Sabuco Street, and continue straight on, passing along Barranco Street, until we leave the village on the way to the cemetery. A little further on, on the right, there are two paths. We continue along the one on the left. A little further on, we pass El Pozo de la Cuerva. Further on, we see an old quarry from which stones were extracted for grinding, an old industry in the village from the 19th century, now disused and abandoned. Without leaving the path we reach the Virgen de la Peña, from where there is a magnificent view of the hermitage and the 12th century castle wall. To the west and south, we can contemplate in all its beauty and greatness the Cluse, declared a Site of Geological Interest, and the canyons of the Cantos de la Red which are formed by the river Alfambra. To the south we can admire the scenic beauty of La Hoya Aguilar, with its large groves of poplar trees guarding the flow of the river, irrigation channels and ravines between dry land, vegetable gardens and meadows. The return journey starts along the same route, and after about 200 metres we can choose between returning along the same path or going down to the Estrecho and returning along the banks of the river.
