Description
Circular path with a bidirectional route through the municipality of Tramacastiel. The path starts in the Mas de la Cabrera neighbourhood and goes in the direction of Tramacastiel along the fertile plain of the river and, once there, it begins to ascend to the upper part of the municipality, visiting the unique spots such as the source of the Tramacastiel River, Despeñaperros and the Iron Mine. It is 16.9 km long, to be done on foot, with an approximate duration of 4 hours, and a medium level of difficulty, not suitable for children due to its dangerous nature in some places. The total cumulative difference in altitude is 762m. The route runs around the valley of the river Regajo or Tramacastiel and the Barranco de la Peña Blanca, from its start at Mas de la Cabrera until it passes through the village, crossing the river several times. In terms of landscape, the most outstanding features are the cultivated areas to be seen at the beginning and end of the path, coinciding with the widest part of the river valley, and the high limestones and conglomerate reliefs of the headwaters and right bank, with abrupt cliffs generated by the strong incision of the river, and beautiful panoramic views of the valley and the town.
