Museo de la Remolacha. Alfambra
Around 1911, an industry dedicated to the grinding of beet and the subsequent extraction of sugar was set up in Santa Eulalia del Campo. All the riverside villages in the Jiloca and Alfambra basins, motivated by this initiative, began to specialise in the planting of this crop, which over time became the main source of income for the people of Alfambra.
After more than sixty years of prosperity, the Santa Eulalia factory was forced to close in the 1980s. This led to the immediate suspension of sugar beet cultivation.
The Museo de la Remolacha Azucarera (MUREA) was inaugurated in 2002, located in an old modernist-style wash house dating from 1925. The Museum houses a permanent collection of implements, machinery and transport elements related to sugar beet. There are also exhibits showing seeds and the root of the plant, an interpretation centre, an outdoor planter with sugar beet and an auditorium where projections on sugar beet cultivation are shown.
