Centro de Interpretación La Naturaleza de Peralejos y La Sierra de Castelfr
Peralejos is a small municipality with just over 100 inhabitants. Nowadays, its people are mainly dedicated to wheat and barley agriculture, livestock farming and the production of products related to the sheep sector.
Peralejos has the singularity of having a varied geology and a climate so diverse that it allows the presence of different plant and animal ecosystems.
Forests of pines, junipers, holm oaks and high mountain pastures dot the highest parts of the Sierra de Castelfrío: a Site of Community Interest where some endangered plant species survive over time.
Its natural environment has been used by the people of Peralejos since ancient times. The use of the forests for firewood, for the extraction of wood or the production of charcoal, the use of the pastures and fields for sheep and cattle farming or the use of the fertile land for sowing cereals is a fact that is reflected in the history of the village.
To all this must be added the recreational use of the surrounding area. Several routes and trails dot the territory, making it possible to carry out tourist activities in the countryside.
The area closest to the town is influenced by the flow of the Alfambra river. The poplar groves of the fertile plain and the crops make up the daily landscape of the people of Peralejos.
This diversity of vegetation is a fundamental factor when it comes to observing different species of animals.
